Physical activity, exercise, and proper nutrition are essential in the pursuit of achieving desired physical and mental health and wellness. Introduction to Fitness is an activity-based course centered on lively participation, knowledge of health and fitness and its relevant topics, and improvement in physical fitness. Some of the topics that will be covered include the importance of an active lifestyle to physical and mental health, the acute and chronic adaptations to various types of exercise, exercise fundamentals and prescription, and nutrition. The goal of this class is to provide students with the knowledge needed to incorporate fitness and proper nutrition into their lives at Haverford College and beyond.
