This course explores the role of metalloenzymes, particularly zinc and iron-sulfur [Fe-S] cluster proteins, in viral diseases and pathogens. Students will learn about the structure, function, and spectroscopic characterization techniques, including Electron Paramagnetic Resonance (EPR) and Mössbauer spectroscopy. The course will begin with an introduction to essential concepts in inorganic chemistry, including coordination chemistry, to provide a solid foundation. The syllabus may be adjusted based on class progress. Students will also present literature reviews and submit a final research proposal, with 2-3 quizzes administered throughout the course.
