In SPAN 100, communicative competence and general understanding and knowledge of Spanish are developed while reflecting critically on the world and, particularly, on the cultures Spanish embodies, as well as on ourselves. This is achieved through engagement with a wide variety of audiovisual, digital, and literary materials, as well as with cultural artifacts from Spanish-speaking communities across Latin America, Spain, and the United States. Offered: every fall semester. Pre-requisites: Placement test, professor’s recommendation.
