THIS IS THE LAB COMPONENT OF ECON 203.
Beginning Tuesday, September 1, we will meet for a computer lab every Tuesday from 7:30 to 9:55 PM. The lab is an integral part of the course and attendance is required.
During the lab you will learn to use scriptable software to manage and analyze statistical data. The application we use will be Stata (version 19), but the principles and methods you learn with Stata apply to other programs as well, including MATLAB, Python, R, SAS, and SPSS.
Over the course of the semester you will complete a weekly data exercise. In parts of these exercises you will apply concepts developed in class to real data; in other parts you will explore the theoretical foundations of some fundamental methods of statistical analysis. In all of the exercises there will be an emphasis on organizing and documenting your work in ways that ensure everything you do with your data is transparent and reproducible.
