This course gives students the tools and confidence needed to appreciate, interact and empathize with people who speak Spanish in the US and abroad. It is intended for students who have already taken beginning courses and possess an intermediate knowledge of the Spanish language. This class focuses on language learning as well as learning about Spanish speaking communities in Latin America, the Caribbean, Spain, and the United States. The study of grammar, syntax, vocabulary, and cultural materials will happen alongside a continuous reflection on learning a language that is spoken by more than 50 million people in the U.S (~500 million speakers globally).
